Swine Flu Protective Measures, Pertinent Information
PROTECTIVE MEASURES (Alabama Department of Public Health)
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a sleeve or tissue, not your bare hand.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based cleaners
are also effective.
• Avoid touching your mouth, eyes, or nose with your hands.
• Stay at least six feet away from anyone who is sick.
• Clean and disinfect any contaminated surface (i.e. desks, tables, door knobs).
• Update stockpiles of food, water, and medications.
Persons with flu-like symptoms should stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to avoid infecting them. Anyone experiencing severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, should seek immediate health care and treatment.
