AHSAA mourns death of Andalusia’s Ethel Robertson

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is saddened to learn of the death of retired Andalusia teacher Ethel Robertson, the wife of AHSAA Hall of Fame Coach Richard Robertson. She passed away Sunday night after a long illness.
Mrs. Robertson accompanied Coach Robertson, the long-time boys’ basketball coach at Andalusia High School (AHS) and former president of the AHSAA Central Board of Control, to many school and AHSAA functions in this state and across the nation. She was one of AHS’s biggest supporters and will be sorely missed.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Richard and the entire Robertson family,” AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said. “Ethel and Richard Robertson have been a long-time personal friends of ours and an even longer friend to the AHSAA. Her love for her husband and family, for high school sports and for the many student-athletes they mentored together will be a lasting legacy. She was indeed a great lady of strong faith. She and her husband have taught us all how to serve by their example of a servant’s heart.”
The memorial service will at First Baptist Church of Andalusia on Saturday, September at 2 p.m.
