Chelsea 5, Northview 0

    HUNTSVILLE – Haley Green’s hat trick helped Chelsea defeat Northview 5-0 in the Class 6A girls’ state soccer semifinals Friday at Huntsville’s John Hunt Park to advance to the AHSAA state finals. Chelsea (16-6-1) will meet Southside-Gadsden (16-5-1) Saturday in the championship match at 10 a.m. The finals will be live-streamed over the NFHS Network.
    Green’s first goal got the Hornets on the board first right before the end of the first half at the 37:58 mark. Chelsea dominated the final 40 minutes getting two more goals from Green and a goal from Claire Gullen at the 15:14 mark. The final goal was scored  by Mary Connor Smith at the 10:15 mark.
     Northview head coach Haley Williams got a great effort from goalkeeper Adriana Wright, stopping 18 shots. Chelsea outshot Northview 38-1 helping goalkeeper Sabrina Long from having to face a single shot on goal for the match.
    Mary Connor Smith finished the scoring for Chelsea, coached by Jonathan Hammett, with her goal with 9:45 left in the match.

Chelsea will be trying to get its second championship in school history The Hornets  won the 5A championship in 2012.

Southside-Gadsden 7, Pell City 0

HUNTSVILLE – Kelsey Patterson’s four goals sparked Southside-Gadsden to a 7-0 win over  Pell City in the Class 6A semifinals Friday morning at Huntsville’s John Hunt Park. The victory advances the Panthers (16-5-1) to the Class 6A championship match versus Chelsea Saturday at 10 a.m. Southside will making its first state soccer championship appearance in school history.|
   Anna Motley gave Coach Tiffany Julien Cargill’s Panthers an early 1-0 with her goal at the 16:38 mark. Patterson scored  her first goal 21 seconds later to increase the lead to 2-0. Goals by Destini Johnson and Lauren Brewer pushed Southside’s lead to 4-0 at the half. Southside-Gadsden kept the momentum in the second half adding three more goals by Patterson.
    Pell City Coach Jeff Samoranski’s team was out-shot 20-3 by Southside.  Goalkeeper Victoria Bruce had three saves for Pell City while Alley Rubrigi had one for Southside.
