Class 4A Boys’ Championship Hale County 67, Monroe County 56

    BIRMINGHAM – Hale County  senior guard Kaddell Perry’s 31 points sparked the Wildcats to a 67-56 victory over Monroe County in the Class 4A state boys’ basketball finals  Friday night at the BJCC Legacy Arena.
    The state championship was the first boys’ state crown in school history and closed out Friday’s session of the 95th AHSAA State Basketball Championships.
    The tournament concludes Saturday with Classes 5A, 6A and 7A playing girls’ and boys’ championship games beginning with the 5A girls’ match-up between three-time defending champion Wenonah of Birmingham at 9 a.m. and concluding with Mountain Brook and Auburn in the Class 6A boys’ finals at 5:45 p.m.
    All finals are being televised live and live-streamed by Raycom Sports over their D-2 / Bounce channels. The Class 5A boys’ game between Mae Jemison and Faith Academy will also be shown on the main channel of WAFF TV 48 in Huntsville. The 7A girls’ finals featuring Hoover and Spain Park and the 7A boys’ finals will be shown on WBRC TV Fox 6’s main channel as well.    The AHSAA Radio Network is also broadcasting all games over its statewide radio network and internet link.
     Perry was 12-of-17 at the foul line, had four assists, five rebounds and two steals to earn Class 4A state tourney MVP honors for Hale County (28-4), coached by Antwan Butler. Senior Herb Jones added 16 points, 11 rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals while sinking 5-of-6 at the foul line. Chris Rollin also had 14 points.
    Monroe County (23-5), coached by Anthony Hayes, was led by DeAnthony Robinson’s 34 points. He also had three assists. Jhacques Gulley added 11 points and Jeremy Calhoun had 10 rebounds.
