AHSAA Mourns Death of Coach Wade Morrison

    The AHSAA was saddened by the death of Dothan basketball coaching legend Wade Morrison, 83, who died after a short illness Tuesday, Aug. 16.
    The AHSAA extends its condolences and prayers to Coach Morrison’s family.
      Coach Tatum was inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. The 1954 Henry County Training School graduate became one of the top coaches in the state at Carver High School and Carver Middle School of Dothan and Dothan High School. His teams were 156-24  from 1971-78 at Carver Middle with back-to-back state championships in 1975 and 1976. He teams were 191-50 at Dothan High School from 1978-86 and 140-10 at Henry County Training School (1958-64). His overall record was 587-89.
      After retiring from education he coached two Dothan Park and Recreation squads to state championships.
     Funeral services for Coach Morrison is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dothan High School’s gymnasium. Viewing of body will be from 9-11 a.m.
