Class 2A State Volleyball Championship

 

Addison 3, Providence Christian 1

     Addison (58-2) used a strong front line Thursday to beat Providence Christian 25-20, 23-25,25-20, 25-18 in the AHSAA State Volleyball Tournament Class 2A championship match at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
     Tourney MVP Jessy Taylor led the attack with 20 kills and 13 digs as the Bulldogs won their seventh state championship since 2003. Addison was 1A state champs in 2013.  Summer Hinton also had 10 kills, Holly Posey had nine and Callie Brewer with six. Posey also had 30 assists and 17 digs.
        Providence Christian (58-2) came into the finals with a 56-match winning streak, longest in school history. Coach Bill Oldfield’s Eagles finished second in 2013 and won back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012. Hannah Harris and Kristy Odom turned in outstanding performances with 18 kills and 16 kills, respectively. Emma Cary also had 34 assists and 22 digs.
