CLASS 6A GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP LeFlore 80, Homewood 65

        LeFlore High School of Mobile closed out a perfect 35-0 season Saturday with an 80-65 victory over defending state champion Homewood in the Class 6A girls’ championship game of the 94th AHSAA State Finals at the BJCC Legacy Arena.
       Jaz Hill sank seven 3-point goals en route to a 27-point effort to lead the Lady Rattlers to the school’s first state title since 2009. Coach Darrell Walton’s team jumped out to a fast start and led 43-25 at the half. Hill was 7-of-12 beyond the 3-point arc and also had six rebounds. Japonica James added 23 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots to earn 6A state tournament MVP. Daisha Bradford also had 20 points, six assists, five steals and four blocked shots.
     Homewood (27-7), coached by Javonka Ward, was paced by Hannah Barber’s 22 points. She sank four treys.  Tori Webb added 16 points and 18 rebounds, and Shelby Hardy had 14 points.
    The 94th annual State Basketball Finals will conclude with the 7A championships Saturday night.
