HOMEWOOD AT CLAY-CHALKVILLE IS RAYCOM AHSAA PLAYOFF FOOTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK

  MONTGOMERY – Raycom Network will televise Homewood at Clay-Chalkville Friday night in its second installment of the Raycom/AHSAA High School Football Playoff Game of the Week. The key Class 6A second-round battle pits two schools with storied histories.
   The defending state champion Cougars (11-0) of Coach Jerry Hood are riding a 26-game winning streak heading into the contest. Homewood, which won four Class 5A state titles in a six-year span from 2000-2005, are currently 9-2 this season with losses to Walker (9-2) and Vestavia Hills (9-2). Coach Ben Berguson’s Patriots have won four straight games and eight of its last nine heading into Friday’s playoff contest.
    Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Play-by-play is being handled by Graham Dunn with Mike Peacock the color commentator and Kim Canova the sideline reporter. Ken Dunbar is the statistician in the booth.
    The Raycom/AHSAA Playoff Game of the Week is a weekly live TV telecast over the Raycom Network’s Alabama affiliates. It will run through the first four rounds of the state playoffs. Raycom will conclude is series with the Super 7 state championship games (all classes) at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa in December.
   All games will be live over the Raycom TV Network on either the main channel or Raycom’s Bounce channels and the Raycom affiliate websites as well as live on Raycom’s you tube channel on the internet. Raycom stations include WAFF TV 48 in Huntsville, WBRC TV 6 in Birmingham, WSFA TV 12 in Montgomery, WDTX TV 34 in Dothan and WTVM TV 9 in Columbus, Ga., and non-Raycom station WFNA TV 55 (Bounce) in Mobile.

Seven other playoff games are set to be live-streamed Friday as part of the NFHS Network’s School Broadcast Program. Two of the games, Class 7A Vestavia Hills vs. Hoover at the Hoover Met and Class 6A Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa at Opelika, are being live-streamed by each school.       All contests will be available through the NFHS Network SBP subscriber program.
