Class 1A VB State Championship

Meek 3, Donoho 1
 
  Meek High School won a grueling 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23 battle over Donoho Thursday night at Bill Harris Arena to win the Class 1A state volleyball championship – the school’s first state title ever.
    All seven state finals were played at Bill Harris Arena Thursday as the 45th annual AHSAA State Volleyball Championships closed out its final day of competition.
    Coach Tara Branstetter’s Lady Tigers (40-13) controlled the nets for 60 kills and limited Donoho to just 38. Morgan Hudson, named the Class 1A state tourney MVP, had 19 kills, three blocks, three service aces and 12 digs to lead Meek. Sevanna Burks added 16 kills and Amanda Cunningham had 15. Setter Jayden Waldrep had 43 assists.
    Madison Gaines led Donoho (46-9), coached by Janice Slay, with 18 kills.  Kayla Wallace added 11 kills and 23 digs. Setter Katie Brown had 36 assists and two service aces, and Camryn Swain had 17 digs.
