MONTGOMERY. – West Morgan’s Brianna Thorne and Oak Mountain’s Alexandra Dunn each scored two goals to lead the North team to a 5-2 win on Tuesday in the AHSAA All-Star Sports Week girls’ soccer game at Emory Folmar Soccer Complex Tuesday..
Thorne scored the third goal of the game for the North, to make it a 3-1 game with less than five minutes to play in the first half. Her final goal gave the North a 5-2 lead with a little more than six minutes to play in the game.
Dunn was named MVP for the North, scoring a goal in each half. Huntsville’s Whitney Batt scored the first goal of the game for the North.
North goalkeepers Miranda Schoening and Lauren Roussell only faced two shots on goal for the game. The North took 17 shots on goal to the South’s two.
Baker’s Zoe Mould was named MVP for the South. Mould scored one goal, Enterprise’s Madyson Rinehart had one goal and McGill-Toolen’s Abigail Boucher had an assist.
Auburn’s Sarah Thorne and Fairhope’s Natalie Seay combined for 12 saves for the South. Thorne had five saves and three goals allowed in the first half and Seay had seven saves and two goals allowed in the second half.
The North now has a 12-2-1 record against the South.
