AHSAA mourns death of Collinsville coach

     The AHSAA is saddened to learn of the death of Coach L.D. Dobbins. The long-time Collinsville High School basketball coach passed away June 11.  He is survived by his wife Marian.
      Coach Dobbins, who coached at Collinsville for 29 years, retired in 1991 with a 511-311 record with one state championship in 1975. Always promoting sportsmanship, he was cited for only four technical fouls in his coaching career.
    Coach Dobbins was inducted into the AHSAA Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. He was inducted as a charter member into the DeKalb County Sports Hall of Fame. The gymnasium at Collinsville High School is also named in his honor.
