Daphne 1, Northridge 0 (2 OT)
    Daphne High School senior forward Rachael Lane nailed a 30-yard direct free kick in the second overtime to lift the Trojans to a 1-0 win over Northridge in the AHSAA Class 6A state girls’ soccer semifinal match at John Hunt Soccer Complex Friday morning.
    Both teams had played to a 0-0 tie through regulation and the first overtime. The winning goal in sudden death came at 88:18 for Coach Dean Logan’s Trojans (11-7-0). Daphne advanced the 6A state championship match to face John Carroll Catholic  Lane took five shots, three on goal, for the match. Daphne had five shots on goal total.
     Northridge (15-6-1), playing in its first semifinal in school history, took six shots. Jaguars goalkeeper Catherine Spence had four saves. Daphne goalkeeper Valeria Aglietti had four saves for the Trojans.

John Carroll Catholic 3, Athens 0
John Carroll Catholic moved into the Class 6A state finals with a 3-0 win over Athens in the AHSAA girls’ state soccer semifinals Friday at John Hunt Soccer Complex. The finals, set for 12:30 p.m., will be live-streamed Saturday by the NFHS Network’s subscriber program. Information can be found at www.ahsaa.com at the NFHS link.
    Coach Charles Zanaty’s Lady Cavaliers (15-4-2), the 2014 Class 5A state champs, led 1-0 at the half on Camryn Lyster’s goal at 25:23 in the first half. John Carroll’s attacking offense got a second goal at 45:23 on Caroline Moffit’s kick and closed out the scoring with August Hamilton’s goal ay 67:36 set up by a pass from Nicole Bernal.
    Goalkeeper Tiffani Dunaway had three saves for Athens (13-2-7). John Carroll keeper Carmen Smith had two saves for the Cavaliers.
