Class 7A Boys Semifinals Mountain Brook 72, Theodore 69 (2 OT)

    Mountain Brook High School senior Terrell Guy’s 3-point goal with five seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted the Spartans (27-7) into the Class 7A finals with a 72-69 win over Theodore.
    The Spartans, winners of the Class 6A state crown in 2013 and 2014, extended their playoff winning streak to 19 wins dating back to 2013.
    Guy finished with three 3-point goals and 19 points. Jack Kline, who had 23 points and seven rebounds, helped Mountain Brook rally from a 45-34 deficit in the second half to tie the game at 53-53 at the end of regulation and 61-61 after one overtime.  Hunter Lucas also had nine points and Will Hartley had eight. Jared Henderson led the Spartans with 10 rebounds.
    Theodore (28-5) was led by Kyante’ Pines’ 23 points. Senior standout Dazon Ingram had 12 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out in overtime for Coach Philip Roebling’s Bobcats.  Alonzo Moore also had 12 points and Rodney Gill 11.
   Mountain Brook and Hoover will square off in the Class 7A finals Saturday night at 7 p.m. at BJCC Legacy Center.
   Play starts Friday at 8:45 a.m. with Keith and Spring Garden opening the day with the 1A girls finals. Class 1A boys follow. Class 2A, 3A and 4A round out the eight-championship slate Friday.
   Classes 5A, 6A and 7A play championships Saturday with a 9 a.m. start.
