Class 7A Girls Semifinals McGill-Toolen 53, Huntsville 35

    McGill-Toolen used balanced scoring to beat Huntsville 53-35 in the Class 7A girls’ state tournament semifinals Thursday night at BJCC Legacy Arena.
    The victory sends Coach Carla Berry’s Yellow Jackets (31-4) into the first-ever Class 7A state championship game versus Jeff Davis Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the BJCC.
    The Jackets shot 50 percent from the field, made 13-of-19 free throws and had just 11 turnovers in posting the win.  Ryann Sylvester had 15 points. Shelby Hall scored 12 and Shauntai Battle 13 to lead McGill-Toolen. Lauren McKee also had seven points, four assists and five rebounds.
    Huntsville (32-4) was led by Ta’Naisha Hill’s 10 points and two assists.   Shaquera Wade added nine points and 14 rebounds.
    The Lady Panthers of Coach Krystle Johnson were making their second state tournament appearance in the last three years.
