MONTGOMERY – Forward Claire Mills of Montgomery Catholic High School and goalkeeper Brianna Burroughs of Tanner High School have been selected to participate in the 22nd annual Alabama High School All-Star Week North-South All-Star Games by the Soccer and Basketball Selection committees. All are 2019 seniors.
Burroughs is replacing Altamont’s Rachel Wright, withdrew because she will be unable to attend. Mills is replacing Murphy’s Avery Howell, who is one of the AHSAA’s multi-sport student-athletes who was selected to play in both North-South Soccer and Basketball games. She can only play in one and chose to participate in the basketball all-star game.
Burroughs, an All-Limestone County selection, was added to the North squad. She has been a three-year starter at Tanner — also playing the defender and midfielder positions. Mills, a forward, earned All-Metro honors and was also a 2018 MaxPreps and USCA state player of the week. She was a freshman Jimmy Hitchcock Award nominee and a 2017 and 2018 Caitlyn Marianne Wiggins Memorial Award recipient.
Howell, who will represent the South in the basketball game, was an All-Mobile County Team selection in soccer and was named to the All-County, All- Area and All-Regional teams in basketball.
