The two teams were still deadlocked at intermission, but Vestavia over to start the second period when senior Carolina Causey scored at 46:59 to take the lead 2-1. Lizzie Hill, a senior forward, added the Rebels’ third goal at 50:49 and sophomore Alison Stubbs drilled a pass from Causey into the net 41 seconds later to make it 4-1.  Senior Georgia Kamburis closed out the scoring with Vestavia’s final goal at 72:08.
James Clemens’ goalkeeper Leeann Price finished with eight saves and the Rebels’ keeper Anna Woodson had six. Both teams were aggressive on offense with Vestavia Hills taking 20 shots with 14 on goal and James Clemens had 12, nine on goal.

Class 7A Girls’ Soccer Semifinals

HUNTSVILLE – McGill-Toolen Catholic (19-5-4) scored a goal in each period and limited Auburn (17-7-3) to just two shots on goal for the entire 80 minutes to advance to Saturday’s AHSAA Class 7A girls’ state championship match with a 2-0 win.
McGill-Toolen, coached by Cheryl Flores, took the lead in the first period when sophomore Caroline Naman scored at 30:18.  The final goal came at 67:01 when Naman passed to eighth grader Anna Adams, who drilled the shot into the net.
Auburn senior goalkeeper Hannah Biglow had nine saves for the game, and Jackets goalkeeper Bailey Dixon had two.
