Lauderdale County (38-0) rolled into the AHSAA Class 3A girls state basketball finals for the fourth straight year with a 62-34 win over Montgomery Academy at the BJCC Legacy Arena Tuesday morning. Coach Brant Llewellyn’s Lady Tigers extended their state-record basketball winning streak to 83 as Allison Cruce scored 22 points and cleared 12 rebounds. Ivy Wallen added 15 points, Ella Wallen had nine and Makayla Liles eight points and nine rebounds. Montgomery Academy (26-7), coached by Barry Fencher had nine points and eight rebounds from Kayla White. Caroline Trulove had eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds. The 38 wins tied the state single-season record for wins by a girls’ team -- a record set last year by Lauderdale County with a third straight 3A title win. The championship game in the AHSAA is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.
