Chelsea, Homewood Girls Advance to 6A Finals

Friday’s Results at the 29th AHSAA State Soccer Championships

Class 6A Girls’ Soccer Semifinals
Homewood 8, Decatur 0
    HUNTSVILLE – Homewood downed Decatur 8-0 and Chelsea beat St. Paul’s Episcopal 9=8-0 Friday morning at John Hunt Soccer Complex in the semifinals of the 29th AHSAA Class 6A Girls’ Soccer Championships. The two schools advance to Saturday’s finals at 10 a.m. All finals are being live-streamed by the NFHS Network over its subscriber-based platform at .
    Homewood (18-4-5), coached by Mindy McBride, posted four goals in each half with senior midfielder Maggie O’Hare recording a hat trick with three goals. She score the match’s first two goals at 4:32 and 9:55 in the first period and scored early in the second half (48.42) for third goal. She assisted on another goal.
    Sophomore forward Eleanor Kyle also scored twice in the first period. Senior Audrey Nabors landed Homewood’s sixth goal at 57:22, junior defender Claire Toullatos notched the seventh goal and Hannah Sensarling, a junior midfielder, scored the final goal ay 74:49 on an assist from junior Allison Kachelhofer.
Goalkeeper Samantha Carrillo of Decatur (12-6-2) had five saves.  Homewood goalkeeper Jada Repp had three.

Chelsea 8, St. Paul’s Episcopal 0
    HUNTSVILLE – Chelsea High School sophomore forward Haley Duca scored three goals and her sister, senior midfielder Lexie Duca, had one goal and two assists as the Hornets downed St. Paul’s Episcopal 8-0 in the other Class 6A semifinal battle Friday morning at John Hunt Soccer Complex.
    Lexie Duca scored the match’s opening goal at 2:08 on a pass from senior teammate Claire Guillen, who notched the second goal with the assist coming from junior Kailey Littleford.  Haley Duca managed her first goal at 19:43 and Littleford closed out the first period with goals at 25:29 and 33:56. Littleford assisted on Haley Duca’s first goal early in the second period. Guillen scored her second goal and Haley Duca closed out the scoring -- both coming in the 48th minute of the 80-minute contest.
    St. Paul’s keeper Macy Browing had nine saves.
    Play was underway Friday with the 6A boys’ semifinals at 11 a.m., following by the 7A girls’ semifinals at 1 p.m., and the 7A boys’ semis at 3. Finals for Classes 1A/3A and 4A/5A were scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m.

Semi-final matches are scheduled 1A/3A and 4A/5A Thursday, May 9; for 6A and 7A, Friday, May 10. Finals will be May 10 (1A/3A and 4A/5A) and May 11 (6A and 7A).
