Two Schools Fined For Rules Violations

Cottonwood and St. Jude high schools each have been fined $300 and placed on probation for one year by the AHSAA for using ineligible players on middle and junior high football teams. All violations were self-reported by the schools.
Both schools were in violation of the Overlapping School Zone section of the Transfer Rule. The probationary period for each school is a warning that other violations of the same nature could bring further sanctions against the school. All games won in which the ineligible students played and the schools won were forfeited to the opposing schools.
Under the Student Restitution Rule, each student will be ineligible for the number of contests he participated in while ineligible.
