North-South Basketball Teams Are Selected

Teams for this summer’s North-South all-star basketball games at All-Star Sports Week have been selected by The Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association, the coaches’ wing of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. AHSADCA Director Steve Bailey released the teams Thursday.
The games will be played at the University of Alabama-Huntsville Thursday night, July 16. All-Star games in baseball, boys and girls soccer, volleyball, softball and football are also scheduled during the annual All-Star Sports Week, which will run July 13-17.
Heading the 15-member North girls’ squad is the state’s career all-time leading scorer, Courtney Strain of Woodland. All selected players for the girls and boys squads are rising seniors.|
Strain broke the state record (4,155 points) held previously by Speake’s Starr Orr last season while leading Woodland to the Northeast Regional Class 2A tournament. She now needs less than 650 points next season to become the first state prep player to reach 5,000 points in a career.
Coaches for each team have not been released yet.
