AHSAA Mourns Death of Charles Henderson Coach
Tyrone Black, a member of the football coaching staff at Charles Henderson High School in Troy, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday morning (Oct. 11). Black, 42, had been on the Charles Henderson staff for 16 years and also coached the track team.
“He was a Trojan. He loved Charles Henderson High School,” said Dr. Boyd English, principal at Charles Henderson. “He touched a lot of lives. A lot of kids looked up to him like a father.”
AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese expressed sadness at the loss of Coach Black.
“The loss of an outstanding role model in one of our schools leaves such a void in the entire community, especially for the students and faculty members, said Savarese. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Black’s family and the Charles Henderson High School family at this time.”
Funeral arrangements for Black have not yet been finalized.
